KMS-30 consists of two elements - a sensor and a magnet, which should be mounted on the movable and fixed part of the monitored object (e.g., door and frame). Separation of elements causes detection of opening and sending a signal to the main unit.
The KMS-30 sensor can be connected to dry contacts in the EnviSensor monitoring system, which enables full integration with other elements of the environmental monitoring system.

For optimal operation of the KMS-30 sensor, the elements (magnet and sensor) should be no more than 15 mm apart in the closed state. At greater distances, sensor sensitivity may decrease, which may lead to false alarms or lack of detection. We recommend mounting the elements as close to each other as possible, the ideal distance is 5-10 mm, which ensures reliable detection of opening while maintaining tolerance for minor shifts of doors or windows.
The standard version of the KMS-30 sensor is primarily intended for indoor use and does not have a housing with increased water resistance. For outdoor installations, we recommend using additional protection against weather conditions or using our KMS-30-EXT model, which has been specially designed for outdoor operation and has a waterproof housing with IP65 protection class. If it is necessary to install the standard model outdoors, you should provide it with appropriate protection against rain, snow, and direct sunlight.
Up to 4 KMS-30 sensors can be connected to one EnviSensor recorder, depending on the recorder model and available ports. The standard EnviSensor ETH has 4 ports that can be used to connect different types of sensors, including access sensors. This makes it possible to monitor multiple access points simultaneously, e.g., entrance doors, windows, and server cabinets. If you need to monitor more access points, we recommend using an additional recorder or contacting our technical department to find the optimal solution.
Yes, the KMS-30 sensor can be mounted on metal surfaces, but certain precautions should be taken. Metal substrate can affect the magnetic field, so we recommend using an additional spacer (available in our range) between the sensor element and the metal surface. This spacer provides the optimal distance that minimizes magnetic field disturbances and ensures proper sensor operation. When mounting on metal server cabinets or steel doors, it is worth conducting operation tests after installation to ensure that detection works correctly.
The standard connection cable supplied with the KMS-30 sensor is 2 meters long, which is sufficient for most applications. If needed, the cable can be extended to a maximum length of 50 meters without signal quality loss. For longer sections, we recommend using a shielded cable to avoid electromagnetic interference that could affect connection stability. For specific distance requirements, our technical department is available to help select the appropriate solution and mounting accessories.
